Statement regarding Eileen Swannack and John Welch

The community of Biddestone were shocked and saddened to hear the news that one of the villagers Eileen Swannack and her partner John Welch, also known in Biddestone, are victims of the recent terrorist attack in Sousse in Tunisia.

Biddestone is a small village, with a good sense of community, and so when events like this take place the effects are widespread across the village.

As a village church, one of the privileges is being able to stand alongside people at key moments in life whether they are moments of joy or of sadness, and so it is important that we mark the minute’s silence on Friday 3rd July together in the church.

There will be a book of condolence for John and Eileen available in St Nicholas’ Church from Wednesday 1st July, and the church will be open from 9am until 7pm for those who would like to come and sign it.

On Friday 3rd July, there will be a short service in St Nicholas’ Church starting at 11:50am to stand alongside the country in remembering all of the victims and their families. All are welcome to attend.

Velma Oxley’s final service and Bring & Share lunch

As you are probably aware, this Sunday 28th June will be Velma and Richard Oxley’s last Sunday with Bybrook Team Ministry.

Following the Team Service in Biddestone at 10am, there will be a bring and share lunch at Biddestone Village Hall. The Village Hall is booked until 3pm that day, and the bar will also be available.

In some churches, the venue of the Bring & Share lunch was incorrectly announced as Grittleton Village Hall, but it will be at Biddestone.

Spring Harvest 2016

Dear all,

I am just emailing to see if any of you would be interested in coming to Spring Harvest with us next year. Booking opens on June 24th at 8am so I’m happy to book on behalf of all who are interested.

If you would like to find out a bit more, this is the website http://springharvest.org

Or, please just ask and I can let you know more about what happens. It’s a great few days away for everyone, and payment is not due in full until early next year.

If you are interested please can you let me know asap?

There is a mixture of accommodation including self-catering and catered. There are rooms and chalets of different sizes available, and we can sort out who goes with who if you can’t fill a chalet on your own.

We’re going to Minehead week 2 which is Saturday 2nd – Wednesday 6th April.

Thanks

Jonathan
